So I did not write yesterday because I was at the beach with my family, and my dad has not set up wireless internet for the houses at the shore yet. So I woke up pretty early on Thursday and we drove down to Belmar. Everyone in the family but my brother Dave made it down to the beach and we hung out for most of the day with the kids on the beach. We all went home and made dinner after that.
Maggie and I were sent out to get wine and beer for everyone and they would not sell it to us because I did not have my i.d. but Maggie had hers. So I get it you can’t be in the liquor store and pick up alcohol and you don’t have your id and you look younger than 35 or whatever. So we had dinner and then Mags and I went back to the liquor store and the woman upon getting my passport started looking through it! Then told me that she had to make sure my U.S. Passport was real by finding the most recent stamp. Which is ridiculous and something no one not even in the state of New Jersey. So the woman told me not to have an attitude and I told her that it was none of her business where I had been and that there was very little chance that my passport was fake. She was being a bitch on a power trip and I don’t need to buy anything from someone like that. I expect people to treat me politely and if they don’t I won’t spend my money there. That is it.
So we went to Weinsteins liquor and were helped by a very nice Asian man who looked at my passport and then allowed me to buy booze. By just looking at my clearly legitimate id.
Anyway I spent the evening on the porch drinking wine with my family. It was fun.
My mother woke me up at 9 even though I asked her to wake me up at ten. Because she is crazy but more on that later. I got up had some pancakes and walked down to the beach. Where I continued to feel like a creepy old lady checking out the lifeguard boys who are just really really pretty. Which makes me feel like a creepy old lady. Which I am actually kind of ok with.
Left the beach to shower and get dressed for Jennys wedding and we left NJ at like 1240. We got to Chestnut Hill early and went to a bakery to grab a bite to eat before we went to the wedding. Maggie hopped on a train and we drove over to the church. It was odd because I have known Jen for so long and I don’t really anymore. When we were younger we were going to be in each others weddings and I was not in hers. If I have one I doubt it will be big enough to include her in as well. I feel like I will probably just have something small nothing like what she had. But the church was beautiful. Intricate stained glass windows and a wonderful vaulted ceiling. It was really a pretty sight. So Jenny got married. It was a pretty ceremony she wore a beautiful dress that was really pretty it had wonderful detailing and was not full length but mid calf. Which she seemed worried about but everyone seemed to love. She really pulled it off wonderfully.
After the wedding we drove to the Marriott at the airport which is where I was staying so I could make my 5:45 am flight. We dropped off my stuff and sat for a minute which was nice as I was really tired. We headed over to the reception which was held at the Ballroom at the Ben. It is a really great space with wonderful lighting and the food was really good too. It was going really well until after dinner when we were dancing and all of the sudden my stupidly drunk mother gets all pissed off and leaves the dance floor. She spent the rest of the wedding sitting at the table or telling my Dad and I how we always laugh at her. Which I don’t think we do, mainly out of some saintly restraint that we have developed over the years because she is ridiculous. She is not smart and she is mean. She has ruined the last thing for me. From now on I am just going to do what I want to and give her as little control as possible. My dad and I were having a great time and she just decided she did not want to anymore because she was sad and she needed attention and it was ridiculous and I really hate her for it. Wonder what kind of bullshit she will pull at my wedding.
So my parents left early and I stayed because I told Jenny I would and have a drink with her at their hotel before I left for my hotel and a few hours of sleep before traveling today. So I left the reception on my own and made my way over to the Omni for a drink with Jenny before I had to go to the hotel and go to sleep. After forty-five minutes I was done, so I got a cab over to my hotel, showered and went to bed.
Waking up in three hours for an eight-hour trip to Costa Rica, I am excited!
